DESCRIPTIONThe Chacma Baboon is found in southern Africa and is wide spread. The Chacma from southern South Africa is a large, heavy, dark brown baboon with black feet an enormous teeth. Chacmas usually live in social groups composed of multiple adult males, adult females, and their offspring. A dominant hierarchy characterizes Chacma troops.
Baboons can be hunted in either South Africa or Zimbabwe. They are mostly taken as targets of opportunity. Usually the Baboon sentinel will have spotted the hunter long before the hunter knows they are present. If you hear him bark, usually seated on the uppermost branches of the highest tree, it will take a couple of hours to see who outsmarts whom. Baboons are subject to hunting permits in South Africa, which must be acquired before hunting can commence. Importation into the USA is also subject to import permits from CDC (Centers for disease control and prevention) www.cdc.gov
Any rifle from a .270 upwards will suffice for hunting the Baboon.
